How Beer is Made

The Beer Industry

Beer is the oldest and most widely used alcoholic beverage and after coffee and tea, the most popular drink in the world.

Though 997 craft breweries officially opened for business in 2017 in the U.S., an average of over two-and-a-half new breweries per day, craft beer only made up 12.7% of all beers sales in the U.S. in 2017. In 2018, there were 7,000 active breweries operating in the states. In what seems like a slap to face of craft brew lovers, 2017 marked the first year that the top 3 selling beers in the U.S. were all light beers. Bud Light led the way, followed by Coors Light, and Miller lite. With that in mind, it's important to remember that many drinkers still prefer light and mass produced pale lagers. This is important when considering how to study and what to train for beer.

How to Pour the Perfect Beer

In this tutorial, we talk about how to get the perfect beer pour by pouring from the tap, a beer bottle and a beer can. Getting the perfect beer head helps the aroma of the beer escape and lets you smell, and in turn taste the beer as it was intended. You'll also learn about a process called nucleation and why it is so important in getting the perfect pour.
